while i was trying to figure out how to set up a squad on bc2, i clicked on my own gamertag and checked my referral ratings. of the many people i’ve played with, 48% have given me a negative review. the 52% approval rating is made up of those who bothered to give me positive feedback or didn’t vote at all.
here’s a quick breakdown.
52% liked or did not give feedback
48% disliked
of the negative feedback i’ve been given:
communications:
trash-talking: 12%
disruptive: 12%
behavior:
aggressive: 25%
unsporting: 25%
i blame the dual rangers. and maybe left4dead when my buddy kept saying another player’s name over and over.
About the Author

i’m currently prepping up to get into grad school for film, but in the meantime, you’ll find me on the xbox 360 while my poor ps3 sits on the shelf.
i’ve know Sgt. Cougar for years, and he’s a great friend. he started a website a long time ago that i wrote reviews for, and it’s a hobby that i’ve been trying to get myself to do more of. you can check out my review site at http://massivecritical.wordpress.com/. it’s still in its baby stages, but i get to talk about the things i’m passionate about.
besides that, i’m a photographer looking for work. i’m also hoping to write some scripts in my free time. looking forward to seeing you all online.
That sucks, G; I’ll give you a positive referral when I get on this afternoon…
I have never given anyone a negative rating unless they request it.
When I was playing W@W HC S&D; team-killing would always get a negative rating and mouthy little phuckers would gain a negative rating from me; but, with that kind of behavior, they are asking for negative feedback.
I never have given anyone a negative rating for using any available weapon loadouts because we are all free to use the same, if we choose.
My brother-in-law had this same problem in Halo 3. He was VERY good with a shotgun and was usually our room clearer. Because he could wipe out an entire team in one pass he was often given the “aggressive” or “unsporting” rating.
You’ve gotta own someone pretty bad with your double rangers before they take the time to pull your GT up and rate you. I say congrats.
I too will make sure to prefer you next time I’m on.
Or (what might be more likely) not that many people left feedback (I know. Hard to believe.), and the people that did left negative feedback.
That’s the tricky thing with these percentages. We don’t know how large the sample set is. The feedback could easily look like this:
communications:
trash-talking: 12% (or 1 person)
disruptive: 12% (or 1 person)
behavior:
aggressive: 25% (or 2 people)
unsporting: 25% (or 2 people)
other: 25% (or 2 people) The percentages don’t add up to 100%
I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Then again, the internet IS serious bsiness.
mandalore, you’d be correct if no-feedback didn’t factor in, but like i said earlier, no-feedback is considered positive feedback. so, for everyone who gave me positive or no feedback, almost as many gave me negative feedback. funny as how i hardly ever play with my mic on that i would get 24% negative feedback based on communications. that, or they were too lazy to scroll down and choose something else.
I see what you’re saying. My idea works if you’ve only played against about 20 people but not when it gets expanded to include everyone you’ve ever played against.
It still seems like something is wonky with the system though. I checked out my feedback, and it’s the same as the last time I checked many months ago. If they’re actually recalculating the percentages, there should be some fluctuation. I don’t believe that enough people are actually taking the time to leave me negative feedback to keep the percentages the same.
Either way, I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
yeah, i’m fine with it. i still have five stars, but i’m not sure what that means anymore. if these percentages are accurate, then it’s interesting to see what really gets on the nerves of other xbox live players — competition.
Gawd, I haven’t looked at that in years! I’m gonna have to check it out now. Not that I really care what it is because any turdburgaler can mess with your numbers. I’ve gotten totally goofy negative reviews to such as the communications when I don’t play with the mic or the aggressive complaint. That probably came from shotgun fests in COD4 I’m sure. I used to have fun running that quite frequently.
