January 10th 2010 Post Game Report

Hold the press this one is not about MW2? What there are other games out there? Oh yes! After my good luck from the Xbox exchange and picking up Borderlands I was able to get on and see what the buzz is about. I had an early evening session where I tried out a couple of the characters. I was pleased to see the controls are nearly identical to MW2. I started with the Hunter/Sniper but found his value would only be in multiplayer games. I then tried the Soldier who I think is all around average with assault riffles and shotguns, but I thought this was going to be a popular choice for other players. I did not try the ogre…Brick, but went with the Siren/Lily. She seemed to be the equivalent of the magician who in typical RPG games starts off with one foot in the hole, and much weaker than others…but as they develop can become badass. I also don’t think too many people will be choosing her, so it may give me added value online.

After farting around and eating dinner I signed back in to Xbox Live to get focused on Borderlands within minutes of getting online both TY and RO joined up. Everything positive you hear about the multiplayer side of this game is true…awesome. You can use the character from your single player game in any multiplayer match. This is good and bad…good because you can get plenty of experience on your main character and gain cash and weapons. Bad because if your character joins up with your buddies who are on a higher level chances are dwarf shot-gunners will lay you out in one shot! But it was a learning experience.

For Ro and I it was kind of run and gun and still getting used to the menus but it was very enjoyable. Most the time I found Ro and TY staring at my female characters goodies, it was kind of awkward. I hope more A-Gamer’s will be renting or getting this game as it has a lot of value with a 4 person multiplayer co-op mode. I want to play a lot more of this game but need to slow down so I don’t burn through the initial easy achievements that I want to bank for the upcoming challenge.
